THE IN-PATIENT UNIT

There is room for a maximum of ten patients, who may be in single rooms, large 'family' rooms or in 4-bedded bays. The aim is to combine a relaxed and informal atmosphere with a high level of care for patients, family and friends. There are no set visiting hours and visitors may come and go as they wish. If patients are well enough to spend a day or weekend or longer at home, or go for an outing this can be arranged.

Some patients are admitted for assessment of symptoms or /and assessment of home circumstances. The highly skilled professional team work together and with community and hospital colleagues to plan the best possible care prior to discharge home or transfer to nursing home. It is also possible to arrange respite care in some circumstances. When patients require terminal care the patient and family are supported with a high level of care and sensitivity.
